Information For Children
Sometimes a problem can change how you behave, you might get angry or hit someone or you might get into fights. You might feel nervous and very shy around other children, or you might worry a lot.
When we do these things a lot can means we have worries; children may have experienced difficult life such as illness, bullying, bereavement.
It’s hard for children to keep having these worries, it can stress them as they don’t know where these worries come from, so they can’t make them go away and they may need help.
Sometimes a mammy or daddy can help, or sometimes they might need help too.
A person called a play therapist can help children learn about their worries and help their behaviour get better. The play therapist help you feel better on the inside.
There might be something going on in your life that makes you confused, worried and even annoyed or upset. The play therapist will have lots of toys and arts and crafts materials that will help you express these feelings without having to talk about them if you don’t want to.
Children’s worries often get better when they understand their feelings. It’s hard to talk about your feelings so your play therapist will try to help you feel better by playing in ways which helps you to share your feelings.
